Scholarship Luncheon

We have two recipients of our scholarship this year. Funding these represents an annual obligation on the part of our members as we try to raise $4000 per scholarship. We do this because we truly believe in our Mission Statement that focuses on our commitment to share aspects of Scandinavian culture, history and social structure. We do this because we believe that Scandinavia has much to contribute to a sometimes, contentious world.
Emma Engmyr
Emma’s grandparents emigrated from Sweden but met in the US.
The family visited Sweden when she was much younger and hopes to return in the near future. Emma majored in Biology at UCSB and has a passion for health care. Her graduate school ambition is to receive a master’s degree in Nursing.
Ashton Gilbert
Ashton’s Scandinavian roots date back to 1867 when his Great, Great Grandparents who emigrated to the US from Norway and settled in the Dakotas a few years later.
Ashton attends UCSB and majors in Bio-Psychology. He intends to pursue a career in Psychiatry and live in Santa Barbara…forever!
